An Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences and Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Tulane University, Alessandra Bazzano applies a diverse set of tools in researching global health and social innovation. Dr. Bazzano is lead investigator on several international research projects and publishes peer-reviewed journal articles in addition to carrying out service activities and teaching graduate students. A seasoned practitioner in the field of maternal, newborn and child health, she focuses on the role of behavior change in health in varied sociocultural settings. To support her research, Dr. Bazzano has successfully competed for grants and funding throughout her career. Her projects have received funding from WHO, UNICEF, NIH and USAID, as well as from local and international NGOs and foundations. In addition to conducting global health research, she also serves as a consultant, providing technical input to organizations involved in community based projects related to MCH, reproductive health and nutrition. Prior to scholarly and academic work, Alessandra Bazzano earned a PhD from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
